I am a registered clinical psychologist. I graduated with a Doctor of Clinical Psychology, and a Masters of Health Psychology from the University of Auckland.

I have competed at both regional and national levels in badminton. This has been both with teams, and as an individual player. Based on my experience with competitive-level sport I understand the role that psychological and mental skills play in giving performance sports people an edge. I believe that one's mental game is important to cultivate, and that doing so allows for the ability to cope and even thrive under pressure. Sports psychology also plays a crucial role in bouncing back from defeat, and to develop a psychologically flexible mindset to navigate the challenges of sporting competition.

I continue to work within the public health system with adults experiencing mental health issues and have an ongoing background in academic research and teaching. I primarily use techniques informed by cognitive-behavioural therapies which include ‘third wave’ therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy. I take a relational, and contextual lens in my work, where I consider the impact of systems (e.g., teams) and how these impact upon individual performance.

Engagement with sport has always been a meaningful part of my life. I look forward to working with other athletes to help them flourish.

I offer appointments in Central Auckland and online.

I have been working on and off with Paula since 2008. She has been a tremendous help in both my personal and sporting life. She is a vibrant personality whose expertise is second to none offering a very comfortable, compassionate and empathetic environment coupled with steadfast tools to facilitate any challenges I have faced with great success.
